Athlete of the Month

May – Trudy Kaltner

Trudy has been a member of CrossFit Twinsburg for almost three years.  When asked about her favorite part of CrossFit Twinsburg Trudy said, “I love the community at CFT. It truly is a family, and the coaches and athletes genuinely care for and support each other both in and out of the gym. My fitness journey has had its share of ups and downs, but I appreciate that CFT has always been able to meet me where I am and keep me moving in the right direction.”

Most importantly, Trudy’s motivation for working out comes from her sense of accomplishment after finishing an early morning WOD. She takes pride in the fact that she’s healthier in her 40s than she was in her 30s, and we think she’s amazing for it!

Favorite Movement: Bench Press, Abmats, and *gasp* BURPEES!

Favorite Cheat Meal: Taco salad with chips and queso

My journey with CrossFit began in late November 2015. At the recommendation of two co-workers, I decided to give it a try. I reluctantly went in to a Free Intro class on a Friday morning. Coach Emre was the only one in the box at the time. I was nervous, but I made myself go … Continue reading Brett

I joined CrossFit Twinsburg in October 2015. I had always enjoyed working out, but I never could find the place that gave me the right balance in my workouts. I tried gyms, classes, and other options, but nothing totally fit. I wanted to be toned and healthy. I quickly learned that CFT was the perfect … Continue reading Carla

After being a college athlete, I spent 6 years trying several different workout routines, none of which I found myself willing to commit to and enjoy like I did for 16 years of swimming. In 2016, a coworker suggested we use a Groupon to try out CrossFit Twinsburg. I attended the first on-ramp class, learned … Continue reading Coach Cait

As a kid I was never overweight and always active playing one sport or another it wasn’t until my early 20’s that my weight began to get out of hand. Although I still played sports my nutrition was horrible. The pounds just kept adding up. At one point I lost weight and was doing good … Continue reading Maritza

At some point in July of 2016 I weighed myself. 285 lbs. For most of my adult life I had weighed closer to 230 lbs. This was a huge difference and I felt it physically and even more so mentally. I was unhappy with what I was becoming. In the few years preceding this change, … Continue reading Matt

I started at CrossFit Twinsburg in August of 2017 out of a feeling of desperation. I was the heaviest I’d ever been, my eating was out of control, I was exhausted and crabby all the time and it showed in my appearance and my attitude. Not knowing where else to turn, but knowing my lame … Continue reading Meagen

My weight loss journey began in 2008. At the time I was 298 pounds. While I have struggled with my weight for the majority of my life this was the heaviest I had ever been. I was very hard to find these pictures, because I never let people take them. And when I did, I … Continue reading Talisha

I never struggled with my weight until I hit my 30s. It crept on slowly until seeing myself in pictures became too humbling to bear. After several years of being unhappy with how I looked and felt, I finally made a commitment to getting healthy. My journey started on August 1, 2015, with a Whole30 … Continue reading Trudy

One night I thought I was having a heart attack. I had left arm pain and a terrible pain in my stomach and chest. I was up all night thinking “what will my kids do without me, what will they think of me?”. I was very overweight and unhealthy. I had been trying all sorts … Continue reading Veronica
